The city of Empoli lies on the right side of river Arno, 35 kilometers away from Florence. Its territory is marked to the west by the right side of river Elsa and southwards by low marine hills. In the northern part, along the river, it borders the municipalities of Cerreto Guidi, Vinci and Capraia and Limite, while to the east it borders Montelupo Fiorentino and Montespertoli; southwards it is bounded by Montespertoli and Castelfiorentino; to the west by the municipality of San Miniato. The territory of Empoli covers an area of 62.28 square kms and has got 45.104 inhabitants.Empoli is part of the Renaissance territory, very rich in art, history and nature, among the many works of art of Renaissance.
